That is a concrete capability change, although the leap from supported checkout to widespread agent-driven shopping remains unproven. ## Shopify lets browser agents complete authorized checkouts **Crittr verdict:** ⚖️ Situational Shopify expanded its WebMCP support so browser-based AI agents can modify order details and complete checkout after receiving customer authorization. The agent can now participate in the transaction itself rather than stopping at product discovery. **Why it matters:** For Shopify merchants, this creates another path through checkout that may need to coexist with existing storefront, payment, and order-handling workflows. Claims about lower cart abandonment or a better customer experience are still hypothetical; the immediate change is that software agents can execute more of the buying process. **Technicole take:** Treat this as a new transaction interface, not proof that autonomous commerce has arrived.
